Silken Tofu

A smooth way to add plant protein to your favorite comfort foods.
Silken tofu has a delicate, custard-like texture and a mild flavor. Unlike firm tofu, which holds its shape in stir-fries and baked dishes, silken tofu blends into a smooth base for sauces, soups, smoothies, and puddings.
In our Creamy Mac & Cheese with Silken Tofu, it blends with milk to create a creamy foundation while letting the sharp cheddar flavor shine.

Shopping and Cooking Tips
Look for “silken” on the package; regular firm or extra-firm tofu will give this sauce a different texture. Silken tofu may be sold refrigerated or in shelf-stable cartons. Follow the package instructions for storage and preparation, and blend until completely smooth.

Calcium and protein content vary by brand, so check the nutrition label. Tofu is naturally lactose-free, although our mac and cheese also contains milk and cheese.

A Little Kitchen Inspiration
Try silken tofu blended into creamy tomato soup, a fruit smoothie, a savory pasta sauce, or a cocoa pudding.
Allergy note: Tofu is made from soybeans and is not suitable for people with a soy allergy.
